The Clerk announced the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag @ 7:00 pm.
The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

Corrections or Additions to Agenda: Additions to the agenda may be discussed; however, if action is needed by the Board, such action must be taken at another meeting when the topic is posted on the agenda 48 hours prior to the meeting. Need to vote on a tentative budget tonight and needs to be posted. No objections.
APPROVE MINUTES of Previous Meeting
Prior to tonight’s meeting, copies of Minutes from the Regular Monthly Meeting held on April 16, 2026, were distributed to Board Members for their review. MOTION to accept the Minutes as presented made by: Dwayne Allen; second by Rhonda Robbins.

AUDIT CURRENT EXPENDITURES, Investments, Transfer of Funds, Budget Line-Item Transfers:

VISITORS ADDRESSING THE BOARD:
Jacob Arnold explained that they have been laying fiber in his neighborhood on the other side of Lancaster across from Lake by Matt Cody Court and the blacktop has been damaged. He has photos. It’s minimal damage to the blacktop itself. Trucks pulled up on the side of the road, and it caused the edges to crumble and tear apart. Perley is the contractor. They came back after three weeks and put grass seed down. Denny says they have a bond and he’ll have someone come out and patch it. I3 is laying the wiring. Picture was from April 30th. Denny has been up there and has seen it. They have a $500,000 bond, if they don’t pay us then the insurance company that bonded them will pay for it. He will contact someone to fix the road.
TOWN BUILDING, GROUNDS & EQUIPMENT:
No date yet for landscaping. Denny got his new fuel tank set up on the south side of the parking lot. Denny asked what they were doing by the building on the back drive and no one knew.
COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE:
A thank you card from a resident for the gift card at Christmas. Brenda & Ray Coulter. Rhonda Robbins said the Township Officials Scholarship was won by Ty Basham from IBC.
TOWN BUSINESS – Supervisor:
CLERK BUSINESS: Clerk needs help with the new computer. Russ said he would get someone in to help get it set up.
ROAD BUSINESS – Highway Commissioner:
We’re behind getting mowing done due to the holiday. Once we’re done with mowing we’ll get back to filling potholes. West of Stranz, North of McCullough the cable company was down there working. He told them he had a minimum of 30” at the lowest point and that worried them. It looked like they bored under the creek.
TRUSTEES / Information / Business:
Dwayne said they did a nice job repairing Lafayette. It will be even better when it is seal coated.
TAX ASSESSOR’S OFFICE / Information / Business:
Tax bills are out and went up to 1.06. Alice was asked who gets a pension in Mapleton. Nobody in Mapleton gets a pension because no one pays into IMRF. Dennis shows up but isn’t getting charged for it. Checks from county are correct. Who’s paying for it? Nobody pays the pension for Dennis. Mapleton has been paying a pension for over 20 years. We don’t levy for pension. Russ stated we only did the budget 5 years ago to have SS, IMRF, Tort and the audit on our tax levy. Alice wants to get it straightened out but the person with answers is on vacation until June.
She can’t sales chase. Two pieces of property sold twice once for $40,000, left it at the value of the senior. Next sale $60,000 left it at $128,000. Looking at sales for 2025, $138K sold for $340K and is only paying at $138K. Russ says they need to watch closer on the people that have taxes frozen and then sell it and it doesn’t get valued at the current market.

Budget line items were read and reviewed. Budget will be voted on at the June meeting.
